Winter Blanket Drive

Paul writes in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

During the month of May and June, the Ministry initiates the “Winter Blanket Drive” for the needy residents of Polokwane. Businesses, friends, church members and acquaintances are requested to take part in this initiative to collect blankets for the needy.

We take hands with one of the churches and use their venue for this special day. The smiling faces of the children are always lit with expectation as they see the parcels that are waiting for them. The children and adults alike enjoy a nutritious cup of soup with a bread roll before we hand out the blankets. The soup is usually donated by a few kind-hearted ladies who prepare it for us and help us to serve the children.

Sent 2 Serve Ministries always try to spoil each child with a sweet treat. Helping hands are always available to assist us in packing these into carry bags. After enjoying their soup, the children usually watch an inspiring Christian movie. Just before leaving for home the children receive their gift parcels and warm blanket for the cold winter nights.

Personally I have done quite a few of these kind of outreaches, but the feeling never changes. Each and every time that I have this amazing opportunity to do something to better someone else’s life, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for that which I have…
